Authentic Relating
At its simplest, authentic relating is a relational practice that offers an integrated set of skills and tools that are potent, versatile, and easy to learn and apply in everyday life, with everyone we encounter. It combines cutting edge research into the science of relationships with the timeless tenets of ancient wisdom and the practical efficiency of using play to learn!
What types of games are we playing?
AR Games were created to give you a playbook for how to begin relating on an authentic level. Turning communication into a game provides a guiding structure and set of agreements for everyone involved. This removes a lot of the stress and anxiety from connection, and adds in an inviting element of play.
AR Games (played with 2 or more people) are designed to take you from:
Surface level answers to → Sharing what’s really going on
Feeling disconnected to → Feeling a real bond
Not knowing what to say to→ A connected in-flow conversation
Lack of understanding to→ Gaining helpful insights about each other.
Honestly? It’s just fun. Simply fun!
What does a game night look like?
Game nights can last anywhere from 1.5-4 +hours, depending on the specific event. We might work with a specific theme or just practice in general.
We will set agreements and intentions for the evening to guide our play and then your facilitator will lead you through a series of structured activities. Throughout the evening, you may be partnered with one other person, small groups, or everyone at any given time. You have choice at every moment what you choose to participate in.
Game nights are powerful experiences where we learn so much about ourselves and each other! This is not a dry workshop. It is an opportunity to show up and connect with others in ways that most of us long for. The learning is immediately applicable to your daily life.
Ascend plans on hosting regular game nights so participants have the chance to return, deepen their practice, and build community with one another.
